ABOUT PIETERSZOON

` How do you satisfy a craving for beautiful leather bags and shoes? By starting your own leather bag brand! That is what the two sisters Jennifer and Cher Pietersz thought back in 2011.

Jennifer, the creative genius of the two, attended the school for leather craftsmanship in the south of the Netherlands and locked herself up in her studio for 2 years to learn the craft. After mastering every technique she felt confident enough to start selling her creations to the public.

Nowadays a collection is designed every year and sold at their own store/ studio in Haarlem and to retailers throughout the Netherlands, UK and Belgium and on design shows in Germany and Switzerland. They also design bags for companies that want to pamper their employees or clients.  As a customer you can also design your perfect tote bag, travel bag, clutch, purse or interior product. The sisters will advise you and help you to finalize your design.

Who wants to be normal when you can be unique?!

After 7 years Jennifer and Cher still love what they do and keep their work in house by designing and producing all their own leather products in the studio in Haarlem.  Keeping production close ensures quality, uniqueness and personal service.

As demand grows, the team expands. Currently four  great craftmans(wo)man work at pieterSZoon: Marijne, Michelle and Bas.

Their bags and purses are almost completely Dutch Made as most of their leather is from a Dutch tannery, with a small portion imported from Italy. All leather used by pieterSZoon is full grain leather* that is tanned through and through and has a wax finish to protect the leather and soften it over time.

*Full Grain Leather is the best quality leather available. Full Grain Leather refers to hides that have not been sanded, buffed, or snuffed (as opposed to corrected grain) to remove imperfections (or natural marks) on the surface of the hide. The grain remains allowing the fiber strength and durability. The grain also has breathability, resulting in less moisture from prolonged contact. Rather than wearing out, it will develop a patina over time. Full grain leather is often seen as the most authentic type of leather because it maintains all of the texture from the original cowhide.
